Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a high-acuity Emergency Department position requiring a minimum of 2 years of ED experience, Epic proficiency, and a GA or compact RN license.
Details
Large, high-acuity general Emergency Department (non-trauma) that is Stroke and STEMI Certified
Patient population spans adolescents to geriatrics
59-bed ED averaging 165–175 patients per day with a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio
EMR: Epic (required); Pyxis also in use
Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
Every other weekend required
Floating within the facility and scope of practice on a rare, as-needed basis
Requirements
Active GA or compact RN license required
Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department experience required
Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS), and PALS
Epic EMR experience required
First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
Additional Information
Scrub color: Navy blue
RTO maximum of 7 days for the contract; RTO cannot be requested during the first week of the assignment
RTO blackout period: Spring Break (April 4–12)
Holiday coverage required based on how many major holidays fall within the assignment period.
Travelers who have previously worked at any facility within this health system must have been away for a full year before returning as a traveler
No special scheduling requests, alternate shifts, or schedule changes are permitted — the posted shift is firm
Local candidates accepted for this position
Two supervisory references (manager-level or above; charge nurse references not accepted) are strongly preferred
Candidates undergo a clinical review process prior to manager consideration
Full compliance must be completed on time to avoid delays, as orientation runs on a bi-weekly schedule
