Requirements

3-5 years of experience servicing electric forklifts (sit down and stand-up reach) and/or pallet jacks

High School diploma or equivalent (preferred)

Job Description
At GT’s Living Foods, our Forklift Mechanics utilize their knowledge of electronics, hydraulics and metal fabrication to ensure that all our warehouse equipment (i.e., electric forklifts, pallet jacks, scissor lifts, pallet runners and floor scrubbers) meets the expectations of operators and management through regular service, repairs and preventative maintenance.

Job Responsibilities

Inspect forklifts and pallet jacks in charging stations for issues regarding batteries, tires, safety lights, oil leaks, and broken electrical components

Verify performance of warehouse equipment by conducting tests and adjusting controls/system

Respond to requests for maintenance and work orders in a timely manner

Troubleshoot and perform necessary repairs and preventative maintenance on forklifts, pallet jacks, scissor lifts, pallet runners and floor scrubbers throughout our facilities

Replace damaged electrical components, transformers, wiring, tires, bushings, bearings, shafts and hydraulic cylinders

Perform machine shop duties such as cutting, welding, machining and other metal fabrication techniques

Accurately document all work order repairs and preventative maintenance performed

Operate/drive warehouse equipment as needed

Adhere to all company SOPs, GMPs and OSHA safety requirements

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Ability to prioritize and complete tasks in a timely manner

Ability to adapt and work in a fast-paced/dynamic environment

Ability to troubleshoot, problem-solve and escalate issues to the appropriate party

Demonstrate teamwork as well as the ability to work independently

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Knowledge of safety, GMP, and PPE requirements

Physical Duties And Requirements

Constant standing, walking and frequent ascending/descending of stairs throughout the facility to transport parts and perform inspections/repairs

Constant operation of various hand and power tools, including but not limited to air tools, grinders, drill presses and welders

Occasional bending and crouching to perform equipment inspections and to change equipment tires

Constant work near moving mechanical parts (warehouse and packaging equipment)

Constant exposure to electrical equipment (batteries, charging stations and pallet runners)

Frequent bending, stooping and lifting to carry tools, materials and replacement parts (up to 50 lbs.)

Frequent pushing/pulling of wheeled carts to transport tools, materials and replacement parts (up to 100 lbs.)

Frequent twisting and reaching to perform inspections and service warehouse equipment

Frequent climbing of ladders to change safety lights and retrieve forklift forks

Frequent exposure to hazardous materials when servicing electrical equipment (PPE provided)

Employees are frequently required to work in a hot and/or humid environment (80-90°F) when performing maintenance outdoors or in the fermentation area

Employees are occasionally required to work in a cool environment (30-35°F) when servicing pallet runners in the cold storage area

The noise level in this work environment is occasionally above 84 dB and requires earplugs to be worn

Additional Skills

Must possess own set of basic hand tools and a reliable form of transportation

MIG and TIG welding experience (preferred)

Sit-down and stand-up reach forklift certification (preferred)

Bilingual-English/Spanish (preferred)

Job Details

Work Hours: Full Time (Vernon, CA) - Available to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends & holidays

Work Attire: Use good judgment, keeping in mind the nature of their work, their safety and the safety of others.

Pay Range: $32.90/hr. - $37.90/hr.
