Program Overview
Ramboll is accepting applications for the Fall 2022 internship program at our offices located in Arlington VA, Portland ME, or Milwaukee, WI. Each participant will be assigned a mentor who will guide them through project assignments. The program provides internship participants the opportunity to gain experience working in one or more practice areas, broadening their understanding and experience within their field of interest.
The hybrid work environment will include activity in a combination of virtual, office, and field settings in accordance with the most recent COVID‑19 guidance.
Team and Role
As an intern you will be part of Ramboll’s diverse, creative, and collaborative team, joining the innovation and digital transformation team Galago. The role involves supporting senior geospatial analysts and may include helping to deliver projects, creating and testing prototypes, and other administrative tasks as needed.
About Galago
Galago is an innovative service that aims to reduce the risk of environmental damage and human health. It works with landowners and remedial site operators to safeguard and protect their land using aerial, drone, and satellite data to map land, perform geospatial analysis and AI methods. The service diagnoses and recommends actions for environmental improvement over time.
Tasks and Responsibilities
Geospatial analysis and visualization
Creating web‑based GIS applications
Geospatial data management and review
Creation and maintenance of data dashboards
Digitization or creation of datasets
Assist in development of machine learning algorithms (tasks include preparing training data, developing data pre‑processing scripts, deploying computational tasks via Azure Cloud, and analyzing predictions)
Growth Opportunities
Candidate pursuing a B.S. or M.S. degree in geography, GIS, environmental engineering, geology, remote sensing, data science, computer science, or other physical sciences.
Preferred candidates with cumulative GPA 3.5 or higher and who have completed at least four college semesters (rising junior).
Experience or coursework in GIS and/or Python programming.
