Duties
Provide critical legal support for the prosecutions division, including research and analysis on legal issues.
Assist in drafting legal memos, documents for hearings and other legal proceedings, and settlement documents.
Work with various legal and scheduling databases necessary to assist the prosecutions division.
Provide legal and administrative support in preparation of documents and witnesses for settlement conferences, hearings, and Regents Review Committee.
Minimum Qualifications
Three years of full-time experience as a Paralegal/Legal Assistant. A Paralegal/Legal Assistant is someone who applies knowledge of the law and legal procedures in rendering direct assistance to lawyers, clients, and courts; prepares and interprets legal documents and forms; researches, compiles, and uses information from legal materials to provide written and verbal comments on their findings; and analyses and handles routine procedural problems independently with minimal attorney oversight.
Examples of non‑qualifying experience: receptionist, records clerk, bookkeeper, office manager.
For competitive applicants: one year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service as a Legal Assistant 2 or being on the eligible list.
One year of service as a Legal Assistant 1, or a bachelor’s or associate’s degree in a paralegal or legal assistant program plus one year experience.
