Sheet Metal Fabricator- 1

Individuals’ primary responsibility is to prepare sheet metal products for the HVAC industry. The primary duties include sufficient knowledge of cutting and joining metals and other materials, operating appropriate equipment to fabricate precise mechanical structures or parts, and ensuring safety protocols are followed. Each job must be performed with safety, quality, and accuracy in a timely manner.

Responsibilities

Inspect parts for accuracy.

Prepare products for fabrication by shearing, bending, rolling, punching, grinding, drilling, tapping, cutting, screwing.

Change out consumables as needed.

Pack, identify, and relocate unfinished and finished products to the proper location.

Ensure all equipment and product are properly set up and used safely, and that all safety devices are in operation.

Perform first-piece inspection as well as all subsequent inspections as required.

Perform simple maintenance and repair as required.

Enter time and attendance records accurately.

Adhere to all safety and quality practices and principles.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of the standard tools, equipment, materials, methods, and practices of the trade commensurate to assigned duties.

Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions of HVAC duct fabricating trades.

Knowledge of SMACNA Duct Construction Standards.

Ability to work with supervisor, co-workers, and helpers.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with personnel of other departments.

Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.

Ability to communicate clearly.

Skill in the use and care of tools and equipment used on work assignments.
