Position Overview
The University of Iowa Community Clinics (UICC) is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to work at UI Health Care Sioux City Family Medicine. This 36‑40 hour week position focuses on patient‑centered care while supporting physicians and administrative duties to increase clinic efficiency.
Responsibilities
Provides nursing care under the supervision of a registered professional nurse.
Participates in the development of nursing care plans and in the implementation of therapeutic program for patients.
In less complex situations, may assume responsibility for directing and supervising assigned nursing personnel. In more complex situations, performs as an assistant to the registered professional nurse.
Maintains a current valid driver’s license and complies with the University Driving Policy Standards.
Minimum Eligibility Requirements
Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with the Iowa Board of Nursing, or eligible for a temporary work permit; must complete required continuing education hours to maintain LPN certification.
Basic Cardiac Life Support provider.
Must self‑disclose any conviction history and will undergo a criminal background check.
This position is not eligible for University sponsorship for employment authorization.
Special Qualifications
Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
Highly Desirable Qualifications
The ability to adapt quickly to different clinical environments and patient populations is highly desired.
Desirable Qualifications
Minimum 6 months ambulatory experience.
Previous EPIC experience.
Demonstrated experience fostering a welcoming and respectful work/academic environment.
Compensation and Benefits
Pay Grade: 11; salary range $44,557.92 – $66,377.52 (based on years of experience). The role includes paid vacation, sick leave, health, dental, life and disability insurance, generous employer contributions to retirement plans, and free on‑site parking.
Schedule and Location
Variable hours: 7:00 am – 5:30 pm Monday through Friday; no weekends, no on‑call, no holidays. Location: Sioux City, IA.
