Carpenters Assistant

in our Flemington, NJ office.

Job Summary
In a restoration setting, a carpenters helper is responsible for providing a range of construction and renovation skills commonly needed to restore residential and commercial properties damaged by water, mold, fire, smoke, and other perils.

Key Responsibilities

Read work orders, blueprints, drawings, and sketches and fully grasp requirements.

Accurate layout, measurements, and calculation of material needed while minimizing waste.

Sense of urgency to complete assignments within specified time and budget requirements.

Direct others and organize efficient work plan.

Required Education and Experience

High school diploma and solid basic math skills.

Significant work history – 2+ years hands‑on experience as a Carpenter.

Knowledge of and willingness to comply with general industry safety guidelines.

Restoration experience a plus.

Technical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.

Communication Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers, suppliers, subcontractors, or employees of the organization.

Work Environment
Working around equipment and machinery, the work environment is usually dirty, dusty, and noisy, on uneven ground/surfaces containing hazardous or potentially hazardous substances and/or materials, and is subject to inclement or extreme weather conditions and temperatures. Work includes handling hazardous materials and the use of personal protective equipment. Frequent travel is required.

Physical Demands
Must be in good physical health and be able to meet the medical clearance requirements of an OSHA (HAZWOPER) medical surveillance physical examination and drug screening. Able to regularly lift and carry 50+ pounds.
