About the Role
Pharmacist Advanced – Women’s and Neonatal Services. This is a Band 8A role, 1.0 WTE, 36 hours per week, at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh in NHS Lothian Pharmacy & Medicines Service.
The successful candidate will focus on Women’s Health, Gynaecology and Obstetrics, with support for Women’s and Neonatal services development. Postholders may work part‑time or job share on a pro‑rata salary basis. The role is full time with weekend, late night and public holiday rota commitments.

Key Responsibilities
Lead the development and delivery of key service initiatives within obstetrics, neonatal care and fertility services.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide expert pharmaceutical advice and staff training/development.
Support increased capacity in Women’s Health and Gynaecology services and progress into a specialist role.
Implement and evaluate healthcare initiatives and training programmes for clinical staff.
Ensure delivery of local, regional and national healthcare priorities, addressing patient needs.
Essential Qualifications and Competencies
Master of Pharmacy degree (or equivalent).
Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
Independent Prescribing Qualification.
Substantial progress across the four pillars of the RPS Core Advanced Pharmacist Curriculum, demonstrated through portfolio, participation in a community of practice, and learning needs analysis.
Experience and Knowledge
Proven expertise in service development, design and implementation of healthcare initiatives.
Strong background in training and education, with experience delivering sessions for healthcare professionals.
Excellent communication and problem‑solving skills, enabling effective decision‑making.
