PeaceHealth is seeking an RN‑ICU for a full‑time, 0.90 FTE night position in Ketchikan, Alaska. Salary range: $44.27–$71.09. Hiring rate depends on education, training, work experience, terms of applicable collective bargaining agreement, seniority, etc.

Job Summary
PeaceHealth Ketchikan Medical Center, a Critical Access Hospital established in 1923, provides state‑of‑the‑art care in a setting known for its natural beauty and rich Alaska Native culture. The RN‑ICU will deliver professional nursing direct patient care, promote a collaborative, interdisciplinary approach, and support quality improvement initiatives.

Essential Functions

Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care needs.

Document patient care in the healthcare record according to established standards.

Direct and delegate care to other team members in accordance with their education, credentials, and demonstrated competence.

Ensure own professional effectiveness through education and professional development.

Participate in the development and maintenance of established hospital policies, procedures, and objectives, quality improvement, safety, environmental, and infection prevention programs.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Education

Required: Degree from an accredited school of nursing.

Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing.

Experience

Required: Minimum of 1 year clinical experience as a staff nurse in an ICU.

Credentials

Required: Registered Nurse licensure.

Required: Basic Life Support upon hire.

Required: Advanced Cardiac Life Support within 6 months of hire or transfer date.

Required: NIHSS within 6 months of hire or transfer date.

Skills

Demonstrated knowledge of age‑specific principles, growth and development, and life stages to meet each patient’s needs (Required).

Demonstrated ability to promote a positive interpersonal, patient‑centered work environment (Required).

Able to support and interpret medical center philosophy, policy, and procedures (Required).

Basic computer skills (Required).

Working Conditions
Physical demands and environmental conditions:

Patient handling: no greater than 35 lbs. without assistive equipment and/or devices (NIOSH).

Fine motor skills required for medical equipment manipulation and precise procedures.

Push/Pull: frequently up to 45 lbs. force (e.g., medical carts).

Hands‑on CPR requiring 100–125 lbs. of force for at least 20 minutes (frequency seldom or occasionally).

Ability to move around the area with frequent sitting, bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, and kneeling.

Non‑patient lifting: up to 20 lbs. occasionally and 5 lbs. frequently.

Exposure to biohazard, body fluids, and airborne particles.

Tasks performed in a noisy environment.

Vision and hearing within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted).

Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
