Position Overview

Smile is West Michigan’s first and only multi‑specialty dental practice, combining adult dentistry (Smile), pediatric dentistry (Little Smiles), and orthodontics (Smile Orthodontics). This allows each of our offices (Grand Rapids, Grand Haven, North Muskegon, and Holland) to provide a one‑stop destination for the dental needs of the entire family.
Key Responsibilities
Assist the dentist during a variety of treatment procedures while helping patients feel comfortable
Set up and breakdown operatory post treatment
Take dental radiographs (x‑rays)
Manage infection control by preparing and sterilizing instruments and equipment
Provide patients with follow‑up instructions following all dental treatment procedures
Educate patients on appropriate oral hygiene strategies to maintain oral health
Qualifications
Dental Assistant Certificate where state regulations specify
X‑ray certification where state regulations specify
Compensation
$23–25/hour
Benefits
Work‑Life Balance: (Monday‑Thursday 7:30 AM‑5:00 PM, some Fridays 7:40 AM‑1:00 PM, Travel between Smile North Muskegon & Smile Grand Haven locations)
Time Off: Up to 3 weeks PTO + 8 Paid Holidays (PTO rolls over!)
Parental Leave: Up to 3 weeks paid

Working Environment & Physical Requirements
This is a clinical working environment where potential exposure to hazardous waste and blood‑borne pathogens is possible. Requires prolonged periods of standing, sitting, leaning, and bending up to 8 hours a day. Will be required to carry, transport, and use tools and equipment. Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
