Wiremold Team in West Hartford, CT. Job Summary: Develop, implement, maintain, and improve manufacturing processes required to meet the needs of the operation for both existing and new products. Assure processes support organizational goals for safety, quality, delivery, inventory, and cost. Ultimately, you’ll be the one to ensure our production lines work efficiently and effectively to satisfy our customers.
Position Description

Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Manufacturing Engineer Intern to join the Wiremold Team in West Hartford, CT.
Responsibilities

Develop manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; conferring with equipment vendors.
Improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
Assure product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished-product and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes.
Evaluate manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operators.
Prepare process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
Provide technical assistance to maintenance and operations as necessary to meet business needs.
Provide manufacturing engineering information by answering questions and requests.
Maintain product and company reputation by complying with government regulations.
Develop and test effective automated and manual systems.
Resolve issues and delays in production.
Keep equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services; following manufacturer’s instructions and established procedures; and managing special service.
Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

Pursuing a B.S. degree in Engineering (Mechanical/ Manufacturing, Industrial or equivalent).
Skills/Competencies

Knowledge of manufacturing processes, fabrication methods and tool design
Commitment to health and safety standards and environmental regulations
Well-versed in relevant software (e.g. CAD, MS Office)
Project management skills and problem-solving ability
Understanding of lean manufacturing tools and concepts
Teamwork skills
