Job Title: CNC Machine Operator
Job Description
The CNC Machine Operator is responsible for setting up and operating a CNC gantry style vertical mill, ensuring the production of high-quality parts. This role involves communicating with production leads, inspecting production parts, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment while complying with safety and regulatory standards.
Responsibilities
Setup and operate a CNC gantry style vertical mill.
Communicate effectively with production leads.
Inspect production parts for quality assurance.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
Collaborate with Quality, Environmental, and Health & Safety teams to ensure compliance with standards.
Stay informed and compliant with environmental and safety policies.
Utilize computers, CAD programs, basic hand tools, and measurement instruments in daily tasks.
Essential Skills
Over 5 years of experience setting up and operating CNC mills.
Experience with any model Haas CNC mill.
Proficiency in MasterCAM, EdgeCAM, or other CNC-based programming software.
Ability to read and interpret 2D prints, 3D models, and work instructions.
Minimum 2 years of experience in programming and setup of CNC mills.
Knowledge of cutting tools, speeds/feeds, and CAT40 tooling setup.
Understanding of G‑Code programming language.
Competence in using basic measurement instruments to verify components meet requirements.
Strong verbal communication skills.
Excellent time management skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Blueprint reading is a plus.
Minor programming/editing skills.
Experience with machining and machine operating.
Ability to use calipers and other measurement tools.
Willingness to adapt and work in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of North Charleston, SC.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $28.00 – $30.00/hr.
