Requirements
MUST have New Jersey LSW, LCSW, or LPC.
MUST have a valid driver's license.
Experience working with the adolescent population in behavioral and mental health.
21 years of age.
Master’s Degree from an accredited graduate school in counseling, social work, psychology, or a related field.
Active and valid New Jersey license to practice independently (LSW, LCSW, LMFT, LPC, PsyD, or PhD) or an LSW who will achieve independent licensure within 3 years.
Supervision must be provided in accordance with licensing board regulations.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
Pass a Criminal Record History Clearance and a Child Abuse History Clearance.
Physically participate in therapeutic holds and be certified biannually.
Participate in trauma‑informed care and de‑escalate crisis situations.
Excellent interpersonal skills with diverse populations.
Flexibility in scheduling; available on agency holidays as required.
Professional image and effective communication in person, on the phone, and in writing.
Basic computer skills.
Prioritize tasks while working under pressure.
Essential Expectations

Maintain confidentiality and appropriate boundaries with staff and youth.
Attend all staff meetings, team meetings, and communication processes concerning youth.
Attend all required trainings, both upon hire and annually.
Maintain First Aid and CPR certification.
Collaborate with the team and stakeholders; provide assistance as needed.
Create a positive community atmosphere with staff and youth.
Document thoroughly, timely, legibly, and accurately.
Ensure the facility is safe, clean, and secure.
Participate in quality improvement activities.
Accept direction and supervision willingly.
Dress professionally as outlined in the Dress Code Policy.
Report suspicious abuse or neglect to the State Central Registry.
Commit to eliminating restraint and seclusion.
Provide culturally and linguistically competent services.
Support youth and family visitation and community involvement.
Achieve and maintain training in the Nurtured Heart Approach, including its 3 Stands and Recognitions.
Relationships
Establish supportive, motivational, and therapeutic relationships with youth, ensuring safety and responsible residential care.
Maintain rapport and professional relationships with family members, community providers, and agencies.
Specific Job Functions
Daily supervision of youth when in care.
Observe, participate, and supervise youth in daily routines (meals, school, chores, etc.).
Model and coach problem‑solving, decision‑making, conflict resolution, and independent living skills.
Know youth’s current functioning level and appropriate interventions.
Document youth behavior, symptoms, and conduct behavioral management interventions.
Review all youth treatment plans.
Carry out daily living and behavior plans developed by a multidisciplinary team.
Assist youth with skill‑building activities.
Programming
Maintain structure and follow the daily schedule.
Plan, supervise, and participate in recreational and social activities, including outdoor programs and physical exercise.
Implement all program policies and procedures, including the behavioral motivational system.
Generate enthusiasm for programming.
Consult and communicate with supervisors, directors, and clinicians on behavior issues and program needs.
Perform light housekeeping duties.
Transport or accompany youth to appointments or field trips.
Conduct group meetings to discuss program rules, concerns, and behavior management.
Administer medication when necessary.
Clinician Responsibilities
All clinical services are provided under supervision of an LCSW.
Provide direct care, case management, counseling, and services to youth.
Provide individual counseling to each youth three times per week.
Provide weekly family counseling.
Facilitate psycho‑educational, group counseling, and family counseling groups as indicated.
Document clinical information in an approved format promptly.
Maintain organized youth records.
Provide weekly reports to the Program Director.
Produce clear, concise reports for team members, families, and agencies.
Develop comprehensive treatment plans for each youth.
Conduct monthly treatment plan meetings.
Use outcome measures to monitor progress.
Contact families weekly to discuss treatment, counseling, and aftercare planning.
Provide training on clinically relevant topics as indicated.
Participate in weekly clinical supervision provided by the Program Director.
Participate in extended coverage: one weekend day per month and one late night per week until at least 7 pm.
Additional Duties
Familiar with co‑workers’ job functions to initiate appropriate referrals.
Assigned to mandatory extra shifts as needed.
Contribute to program functioning (ordering supplies, shopping, fire drills, pharmacy runs, errands, etc.).
Aid in training new employees.
Drive program vehicles as requested.
Training Requirements for This Position
Handle with Care bi‑annually.
All Training Academy classes and ongoing training as developed.
Other Duties
As assigned.
