
Mechanic II

Summary
STS Technical Services is actively seeking candidates for a Mechanic II role with our Fortune 350 Client! In this role, you'll need to be qualified in heavy and medium truck mechanics. Air conditioning certification is preferred.
Duties and Responsibilities
Assemble and/or install a variety of major and minor subassemblies, parts and systems as directed (e.g., brackets, wiring, radiators, axles, air systems, hydraulic steering and lines, air lines, electronic lines, valves, tanks, linkages).
Cut, fit, bend and adjust parts for fit or function as directed.
Drill, ream or tap holes for mounting or clearance as directed.
Measure wire, tubing or hose paths and cut tubing to length as directed.
Fill batteries and accessory grease points and apply sealants as directed.
Start up engine, check dashboard instruments for proper function.
Assemblies weigh up to 10,000 lbs.; handle with appropriate equipment such as cranes and dollies, which are provided.
Install various aftermarket parts and assemblies on truck such as brackets, wiring, hydraulic lines, air lines.
Follow work instructions and quality standards.
Follow engineering prints and bill of materials.
Perform repairs/alterations on vehicles such as drilling holes or modifying sheet metal.
Install various harnesses and batteries.
Use simple arithmetic and measuring instruments such as calipers or scales.
Diagnose and/or repair problems and provide failure analysis in a follow‑up service report for all areas of responsibility.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Commercial Driver's License.
Minimum of 3‑5 years of experience in automotive field service and/or automotive technical support (extensive mechanical experience).
Prior experience using pneumatic hand tools, drills, and truck parts.
Ability to read technical manuals and blueprints and follow work instructions.
Effective and professional communication skills and a professional appearance during the assignment.
Personal protective equipment (e.g., steel‑toed boots) is a contractor requirement.
Ability to lift at least 50 lbs.
Experience, certification, and education needed.
Ability to perform multi‑axle wheel alignment.
Ability to use software and program vehicle computers.
Ability to provide estimates for repairs required.
Capable of completing a full vehicle overhaul, including frame replacement.
