About the Role
The Assistant Control Room Operator (ACRO) will work under the supervision of the Shift Supervisor and the direction of the Control Room Operator. They will be responsible for the operation and inspection of various systems and equipment such as turbine generator, boilers, fans, grates, ash and air pollution control systems, the demineralizer, and water chemistry testing.
The duties include safe and efficient operation of assigned equipment, recording data, reporting equipment malfunctions or trends, and performing actions as directed to correct abnormal operating conditions or emergency situations.
Position Requirements
3 years’ experience in a refuse‑to‑energy facility with a thorough understanding of water treatment systems.
Mechanically inclined and able to inspect equipment to ensure optimal operations of machinery.
Formal technical or apprentice training desirable, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as rules, technical procedures, operating and maintenance instructions, and other procedure manuals.
Effective verbal communication with supervisors and other employees.
Proficient in basic arithmetic in all units of measure.
Application of common sense to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
Ability to take safe action on own initiative to prevent equipment damage or injury during emergencies; ability to follow safety rules.
Ability to log onto a computer and complete online training.
Physical Demands
Frequently exposed to high temperatures and outdoor weather conditions.
Working near moving machinery in noisy and dusty environments; must wear required PPE including a negative pressure respirator per OSHA Regulation 29 CFR 1910.134.
Climbing ladders and structures, tolerant of heights.
Required to stand, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and reach.
Lifting up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision requirements: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Shift Work
Rotating 12‑hour shift including weekends and some holidays.
Overtime will be required.

Reworld’s pay range for this role in the primary location is $62,100.00 to $82,700.00 USD per year. For hourly roles, the annualized salary is used. The final salary will be determined based on experience, education, location, skills, and other factors.
