About the job : We are seeking a Master Mechanic to maintain our fleet of heavy diesel equipment, including Atlas Copco air compressors, drill rigs, and Bobcat skidsteers and excavators. This role will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining our fleet to ensure peak operational performance.
Responsibilities
Inspect, test, and diagnose faulty operations and parts across heavy diesel equipment.
Perform routine and preventative maintenance inspections on all vehicles and machinery.
Diagnose and repair malfunctions in diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and other mechanical and electrical components.
Disassemble and reassemble heavy equipment and components as needed.
Perform regular maintenance checks, including fluid level inspections and part testing.
Interpret and work from technical manuals, diagnostic charts, and schematics.
Order necessary parts for repairs and maintenance activities.
Communicate with operators to diagnose problems and plan repair work.
Test repaired equipment to ensure full operational performance.
Input and maintain work orders, vehicle status updates, and completed repair logs in an online fleet management system (e.g., Fleetio, Samsara).
Use hydraulic jacks and hoists safely as part of repair operations.
Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition.
Follow all company safety procedures and maintain a clean and safe work environment.
Must-haves
Diploma from a trade school or relevant technical certification.
Proven experience as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic.
Strong knowledge of air compressors, CAT, John Deere, and Deutz diesel engines.
Solid understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems related to heavy equipment and trucks.
Ability to handle a variety of mechanical tools and operate heavy equipment safely.
Strong commitment to safety practices and accident prevention.
Ability to lift 50 lbs overhead and perform sustained physical labor in all weather conditions.
Valid driver's license with a safe driving record that meets company insurance requirements; CDL is a plus.
Personal vehicle and ability/willingness to drive to job sites within approximately 75 miles.
Bonus Points
CDL A driver's license.
Experience working with drilling rigs.
Experience using torches and welding equipment for repairs and fabrication.
Familiarity with technology tools (computers, laptops, and iPads) and maintenance software platforms (e.g., Fleetio, Samsara).
