
Staff Accountant

The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting core accounting functions, including general ledger activity, fixed assets, inventory, and month-end close processes. This role ensures financial data is accurate, timely, and compliant with GAAP while contributing to overall financial reporting and operational efficiency.
This position reports to the Accounting Manager and operates in a fast-paced, multi-entity environment.
What You’ll Do
Maintain the fixed asset ledger, including rental fleet and capital leases
Calculate and post monthly accrual entries (insurance, property tax, franchise tax, etc.)
Maintain and support sales tax software and related reporting processes
Ensure all transactions are properly recorded and supported in the general ledger and appropriate sub-ledgers
Perform inventory accounting functions, including costing analysis, cycle counts, WIP tracking, inventory turns, and monitoring slow-moving inventory
Maintain schedules for operating leases and ensure proper monthly accounting treatment
Assist in reconciling monthly balance sheet accounts and bank statements, including researching discrepancies
Support month-end and year-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting
Prioritize daily tasks and manage multiple responsibilities to meet deadlines
Work with the Controller and Accounting Manager to support the year-end audit process with external auditors
What You Bring
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
Working knowledge of the oil and gas industry preferred
Knowledge of GAAP required
Ability to communicate and collaborate with various levels of management and staff
Strong interpersonal skills
Ability to multi-task and effectively manage multiple assignments under pressure and tight deadlines
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
Working Conditions
Time-sensitive reporting deadlines may require periodic overtime, particularly during month-end and year-end periods
Primarily office-based role with prolonged periods of sitting and computer work
Limited and infrequent travel may be required
Ability to lift up to 15 pounds as needed
Occasional extended hours or weekend work during peak periods
