Provide service to students and families by guiding them through the aid application process, handling professional judgment decisions, and performing job functions related to those services.
Location & Department Overview
Work type: Non‑Classified/Professional. Location: Boise, ID. The Financial Aid Counselor will work within a collaborative, supportive team environment to administer various financial aid programs within regulatory requirements and counsel students, parents, faculty, and staff to support access to different student aid programs.
Level Scope
Entry‑level professional with limited or no prior experience. Incumbent learns to use professional concepts to resolve problems of limited scope and complexity under close supervision while achieving day‑to‑day objectives. Works on developmental assignments initially routine in nature, requiring limited judgment and decision making. This level is typically focused on self‑development and requires theoretical knowledge through specific education and training.
Essential Functions
Advise and counsel students and families on the financial aid process and special circumstances for individual applicants.
Advise on student loan consolidation and loan repayment options.
Process financial aid requests.
Participate in outreach activities.
Evaluate and review financial aid awards, process documents, and respond to student requests.
Remain current in knowledge and understanding of regulations and technology changes.
Additional duties (up to 35% of time) include financial aid counseling, interaction with technology systems, outreach activities, and supervision/team management.
Other duties as assigned (approximately 5% of time).

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience.
