The Academic Support and Student Success Department is recruiting for part-time Learning Assistants to begin in
August 2026 . These positions are responsible for assisting Victoria College students in the subject areas of math, humanities, and/or science at the Victoria College Learning Lab. Duties include,
but are not limited
to the following:
Duties
Provide subject-specific content assistance to walk-in and virtual students during scheduled hours
Create a professional and welcoming environment
Use active listening and questioning strategies
Participate in professional development activities
Utilize resources, feedback, and reflection to improve sessions and practice
Maintain a positive attitude and provide constructive feedback to students
Provide direct assistance in the use of equipment and materials
Refer students to other campus and community resources as needed
Maintain CRLA training certification requirements and standards
Complete appropriate documentation of sessions in a timely fashion (by the end of each shift) and correctly note grant-funded students in reports
Communicate with Learning Lab Director and check email regularly
Adhere to schedule guidelines
Follow all FERPA guidelines
Perform other duties as assigned by the Learning Lab Director
Qualifications
Two recommendation letters
Minimum GPA of 3.0
Experience in the subject area content
Excellent presentation and communication skills
Ability to follow through on responsibilities
Proficiency with Microsoft products
Positive, courteous, and tactful manner when working with college administration, faculty, students, and the public
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle controls, keypads, etc., and will be required to sit and reach with hands and arms as well as sit, stand, and walk. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 15 pounds while loading office supplies and paper. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, some color vision, and the ability to adjust focus from documents to computer screens. Hearing light to moderate sound is required for this job. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
