Overview
The Field Construction Manager (FCM), under the guidance of the Project Manager and Construction Manager, coordinates, manages, and supervises all construction and on-site electromechanical tasks, as well as civil work.
Responsibilities
Coordinate the project schedule with the Project Manager and Construction Manager to ensure required site progress.
Manage mobilization and demobilization of resources in a timely manner.
Implement corrective measures to ensure compliance with Client’s policies and procedures regarding safety, quality, schedule, and cost.
Provide proactive field support to resolve problems.
Open/close daily work notifications; inspect substation/ROW perimeter.
Report weekly/monthly; document site meetings.
Monitor schedule and attend contractor meetings.
Maintain onsite Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality project binder.
Organize and document project progress.
Prepare final file; review contractor invoices and schedules.
Conduct weekly project progress meetings; request two-week look-ahead schedule.
Be onsite during work; observe contractor activities.
Notify PM of issues or public complaints.
Coordinate material delivery; inspect construction materials.
Ensure workmanship conforms to specifications and schedules.
Resolve construction problems with engineering personnel, inspectors, contractors, and suppliers.
Minimize change orders; review and recommend on change orders

Enhance project constructability considering schedule, cost, and quality.
Maintain project change order and correspondence log.
Communicate continuously with PM; coordinate with local/state municipalities.
Adhere to company policies and regulatory requirements.
Safety
Review HASP from contractors; attend daily briefs.
Provide Safety Orientation Checklist; ensure completion.
Supervise daily safety activities; prepare weekly inspections.
Report and investigate accidents/incidents; propose corrective actions.
Environment
Review Environmental Management Plan; provide improvements.
Include environmental tips in daily briefs; ensure checklist completion.
Supervise daily environmental activities; prepare weekly inspections.
Report and investigate environmental incidents; propose corrective actions.
Quality
Review Inspection Test Plan from contractors; ensure onsite records are organized.
Update IFC drawings; track contractor mark-ups.
Control project documentation; ensure compliance with permits.
Verify equipment testing and as-built data.
Perform weekly audits and inspections; propose non-conformance actions.
Review contractor material submittals; verify material receipts.
Upload documents to Project Wise; propose lessons learned.
Conduct pre/post energization inspections; reconcile materials at project end.
Minimum Education & Experience
Must have a BS/BA degree in an engineering discipline from an ABET (or equivalent) accredited college/university or 10 years’ experience in the following areas:
Construction Management
Construction, maintenance and testing of electrical equipment
Relay protection and control systems
Start-up and commissioning of electrical equipment and systems
Electrical Field engineering
Arc Flash safety training
Troubleshooting of electrical equipment or systems
SCADA and communication systems
Certifications
Background Check clearance to obtain a contractor badge per policy.
Valid Driver’s License.
First Aid/AED
OSHA 30 LI-Hybri
