Construction Purchasing Coordinator- Denver, Colorado
Part-Time (leading into Full-Time) and Temp-To-Hire
Schedule is flexible but 10am to 2pm daily
Compensation: $30/hour
Position Overview
The Construction Purchasing Coordinator plays a critical role in ensuring projects are equipped with the right materials at the right time and cost. This position supports procurement operations by sourcing materials, negotiating pricing, issuing purchase orders, and maintaining strong vendor partnerships. You’ll collaborate closely with project managers, estimators, field leadership, and accounting to keep projects running efficiently from preconstruction through closeout.
Key Responsibilities
Procurement & Purchasing
Source and procure materials, equipment, and supplies across multiple construction projects
Solicit and compare vendor quotes; negotiate competitive pricing and terms
Issue and manage purchase orders aligned with project budgets and timelines
Track lead times and coordinate deliveries to avoid project delays
Vendor & Supplier Management
Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and distributors
Evaluate vendor performance including pricing, quality, and delivery reliability
Resolve discrepancies related to shipments, invoicing, or damaged materials
Maintain and update an approved vendor database
Project Coordination
Partner with project managers and field teams to forecast material needs
Review plans, specifications, and submittals to confirm material requirements
Support value engineering efforts by identifying cost-effective material alternatives
Maintain procurement logs and provide status updates for active projects
Cost Control & Documentation
Ensure all purchases align with project budgets and internal policies
Maintain accurate records of purchasing activity, contracts, and pricing
Support accounting with invoice approvals and reconciliation
Identify cost-saving opportunities through material tracking and vendor analysis
Qualifications
Required
Experience in construction purchasing, materials coordination, or project administration
Strong understanding of construction materials and project workflows
Proven negotiation and communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and construction management platforms (Procore, Sage, Viewpoint, Buildertrend, or similar)
Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities
Preferred
Experience supporting commercial construction trades (drywall, paint, framing, or specialty scopes)
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, submittals, and specifications
Degree in Construction Management, Business, Supply Chain, or related field
Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus
