Position Overview
The Staten Island Ferry (SIF) Deputy Director of Facility Engineering (DDFE) will oversee Civil Engineer Interns (CEIs) who will collaborate with internal groups to support the SIF engineering program. CEIs will prepare drawings and details using AutoCAD, perform civil engineering work of moderate difficulty, assist in research, investigations, or studies, and may participate in contract document preparation and attendance of field reviews and meetings. Field work may be required to determine conditions and design constructability.
Key Responsibilities
Assist the SIF DDFE on complex waterfront civil marine structural projects, including field investigations, preliminary designs, regulatory approvals, final design, procurement, and construction administration.
Assist with mechanical and electrical engineering projects as needed.
Manage consultant and construction project scopes, schedules, and budgets.
Develop project scope of work, structural design criteria, and conduct field inspections, condition surveys, and feasibility studies.
Estimate remaining useful design life of structures and prepare engineering reports and presentations.
Prepare task orders, work assignments, proposals, bids, contracts, drawings, specifications, and cost estimates.
Review consultant and contractor submittals to ensure compliance with scope, codes, and DOT standards.
Provide Resident Engineer and Inspection (REI) services on small to medium scale projects and conduct resident engineering assessments as requested.

Additional Requirements
Possession of a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) within 30 days of appointment or undergoing a federal background check through the TWIC program.

Location: 1 Bay St, Staten Island, NY 10301.
Hours: 35 hrs / Monday – Friday 08:00 AM – 04:00 PM.
Minimum Qualifications
A baccalaureate degree in civil engineering from an accredited college. Degrees in any other engineering area or in civil engineering technology are not acceptable.
Additional Information
