Engineering Supervisor – Substations & Transmission Systems (utilities exp. & PE req.) Description
Our client, a utilities company, is searching for an Engineering Supervisor to oversee their Substation Engineering Team (4). In this role, located in the Greater Kansas City area, you will play a pivotal role serving as a project executive overseeing the design work, managing consultants, handling contracts, and directly supervising the construction of all the facilities. To be chosen for this role, candidates must either have a substation or transmission systems background. Engineering Supervisor – Substations & Transmission Systems (utilities exp. & PE req.) Responsibilities

Plan and oversee projects, including major construction and capital improvements

Design substations and transmission systems including systems protection

Supervise staff in engineering (4) to ensure efficient project execution

Approve all materials for substations, transmission systems, and system protection

Provide mentorship to junior engineers to support their continued advancement

Recommend the acquisition of advanced equipment, software, or specialized training

Review staff performance and offer solutions to mediate challenges

Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure projects are on track

Participate in NERC audits and prepare quarterly and annual document certifications

Serve as the SME as it relates to FERC and NERC requirements

Oversee transmission system planning and its coordination across stakeholders

Engineering Supervisor – Substations & Transmission Systems (utilities exp. & PE req.) Qualifications

Professional Engineer (PE) certification (within the US) is required
