About Layton Services
Layton Services is seeking an experienced Pipe Foreman with a strong background in sanitary sewer, storm drainage, and water main installation within a civil construction environment. This role is responsible for leading field crews, managing daily site operations, and ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and according to specifications.
This is a hands‑on leadership position ideal for someone experienced in underground utilities, excavation, and site work who can confidently manage crews and production schedules.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, organize, and supervise underground utility crews
Oversee installation of sanitary sewer, storm sewer, and water main systems
Assign daily tasks and ensure compliance with project plans and specifications
Read and interpret blueprints, grade stakes, and technical drawings
Utilize GPS and laser-guided layout systems for accurate installation
Conduct safety meetings and enforce OSHA safety standards
Maintain daily reports including labor hours, materials, and production tracking
Coordinate equipment use and material deliveries
Communicate directly with Superintendent and Director of Operations
Troubleshoot field challenges and implement solutions
Ensure proper trenching, excavation, and shoring practices
Maintain tools, equipment, and job site organization
Qualifications
Proven experience as a Pipe Foreman, Underground Utility Foreman, or Site Work Foreman
Strong background in excavation, trenching, and underground utilities
Experience installing sanitary, storm, and water systems
Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications
Knowledge of GPS layout systems and grade control
Familiarity with construction reporting software
Strong leadership and crew management skills
OSHA 30-Hour Certification (Required)
OSHA Trenching & Excavation Certification (Required)
