Job Overview
Electrical Technical Specialist – responsible for final machinery checkout, installation at customer sites, and support for on‑site assembly.
Job Duties
Repair parts in the field and document areas of improvement.
Lead efforts to provide feedback that reduces cost or improves equipment functionality or ease of installation.
Lead teams to solve problems in real time to meet shipment and installation timeline targets.
Represent AMF professionally internally and externally.
Support local assembly by performing builds as required.
Lead the electrical, mechanical, and controls checkout and quality assurance stages of machinery through shipment.
Oversee the installation of machinery in the field, including erection, placement, connection, and onsite check‑out and power‑up.
Provide field service support when required.
Requirements
2‑year technical degree and/or electrical/mechanical certification.
5 years of electrical experience.
Ability to comprehend and execute verbal, written, and drawn instructions (engineering control drawings and/or schematics).
Comfortable working with a variety of hand, electrical, and pneumatic tools and selecting the most optimal tool.
Sound troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
Effective communication with multiple levels of both AMF and customers’ organizations.
Ability to learn and adjust to customers’ policies (safety, health, or other policies).
Professional demeanor suitable for a customer setting.
Own basic tools; company provides additional tools (e.g., socket wrench sets, Allen wrench sets, screwdriver set, tape measure).
30 % travel for onsite installations.
Preferred Qualifications
Field service experience.
Solid electrical aptitude with knowledge of NEC code and wiring techniques.
Knowledge of variable‑speed drives, sensors, conveyors, PLC, and human interfaces (Rockwell and Allen‑Bradley).
Basic machine‑shop and fabricating skills.
PLC programming capabilities for understanding, modifying, and troubleshooting programs.
Understanding of power transmission parts, pneumatics, hydraulics, and electrical circuits.
Working Conditions
Must stand on concrete floors for a minimum of eight hours; kneeling, squatting, bending, and standing for extended periods may be required.
Conditions vary at customer locations.
Indoor (95 %) and outdoor (5 %) environments.
