Field Service Technician - HW - Dallas, TX

Field Service Technician (FST) – primarily engaged in completing preventative maintenance tasks on Varian Medical Systems (VMS) linear accelerator and imaging systems, ensuring customer equipment operates efficiently.

Responsibilities

Proactively perform specific periodic and preventative maintenance activities on Linear Accelerators and associated medical equipment outside of normal business hours per documented procedures.

Manage time and maintain a daily/weekly schedule to effectively perform preventative maintenance on systems throughout the service region.

Understand and recognize the need to elevate incidents when necessary and request additional assistance from more tenured representatives or leadership.

Maintain administrative duties, including timely completion and submission of field service work orders, expense reports and management of consignment parts and other documentation according to VMS procedures.

Communicate required follow‑up actions to primary assigned representative.

Minimum Required Skills And Knowledge

Excellent time management and professional communication skills internally to Varian and externally to customers.

Ability to develop and maintain strong customer relationships through strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication.

Frequent use and application of technical documentation (electronic and paper) and standards in the field.

Basic knowledge of electronic, electro‑mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and plumbing systems; familiarity with handheld test equipment such as Digital Multimeter and Digital Oscilloscope.

Basic technical experience with micro‑computer PCs and small hand tools.

Maintain Vendor Credentialing status and compliance with company and customer requirements (identification, background checks, drug screens, immunizations, TB testing, etc.).

Minimum: High School Degree or Equivalent; Preferred: Vocational training or military experience with electronics.

Other Desired Skills And Knowledge

Understand and utilize escalation process; required certifications and training completed (VMS HW Preventive Maintenance).

Experience with business tools such as email, Microsoft Office, and ERP products.

Strong ability to manage customer expectations while building positive relationships.

Location
Candidate must live within close proximity or be willing to relocate to Dallas, Texas. This is a field‑based “remote” position that requires onsite work at several local customer locations.

Compensation
Base Pay Range: $55,230 - $75,944. Factors may affect starting pay within this range.
