We are seeking a Strategic Initiatives Manager to lead project oversight and ensure alignment of SCINet initiatives.
Key Responsibilities: Design, implement, and optimize SCINet’s high-performance network infrastructure.
Manage SD-WAN and IP routing between Internet2 and commodity Internet connections.
Collaborate daily with GlobalNOC and OmniSOC to ensure optimal network performance and security.
Troubleshoot complex network issues across multiple sites, ensuring high availability for scientific research.
Implement network security measures and ensure compliance with federal standards.
Maintain network documentation and contribute to the integration of emerging technologies.
Requirements: 8+ years of program/project management experience.
Proven experience with maintaining and revising a RACI document.
Background in scientific computing, IT environments, or large-scale technical initiatives.
Experience managing network engineering projects, scientific research projects, customer communications, agile project management, assigning resources to proactively accomplish workloads.
Experience working in scientific computing and research environments required.

We are seeking a Senior Network Engineer to support the USDA SCINet high-performance computing network. You will ensure network reliability and security across multiple ARS sites.
Key Responsibilities: Design, implement, and optimize SCINet’s high-performance network infrastructure.
Manage SD-WAN and IP routing between Internet2 and commodity Internet connections.
Collaborate daily with GlobalNOC and OmniSOC to ensure optimal network performance and security.
Troubleshoot complex network issues across multiple sites, ensuring high availability for scientific research.
Implement network security measures and ensure compliance with federal standards.

Requirements: Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, or a related field.
Proven track record in configuring and managing routers, switches, and firewalls.
Familiarity with cloud networking concepts and services (AWS, Azure).
Experience with network virtualization technologies (VMware NSX, Cisco ACI).
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex network issues.
8+ years of network engineering experience, with a background in high-performance computing or large-scale networks.
Familiarity with SD-WAN, advanced routing, and network security protocols.
Strong collaboration skills with internal teams and external partners (e.g., Internet2 and ARS locations).
Must be located in the Washington, D.C. area, with the ability to work on-site as needed.
