
Cataract Consultant

The Cataract Consultant is responsible for consulting patients on surgery options and scheduling ophthalmic surgeries at the ambulatory surgery center and local hospitals. Service as liaison between patient and surgeon, facility, pre op staff etc. Position requires good understanding of ophthalmic practice and insurance coverages. Requires considerable attention to detail. Ability to communicate with patients, surgeons, coworkers and supervisor is critical. Must be willing to help in all areas.
Duties/Responsibilities
Maintain a working knowledge of all surgery procedures
Communicate with patients, consulting patients on treatment options
Schedule pre-op and post-op visits
Review procedure insurance requirements and surgical consents
Transportation requirements for patient
Gaining health clearance from PCP, cardiologist, etc.
Communicate Pre-Op and Post-Op medications to patient
Comply with HIPAA confidentiality standards
Required Skills/Abilities
Able to read, write and communicate and present with a neat professional appearance
Create a good impression as a friendly, empathetic, composed and efficient individual as this position requires the ability to create a trusted relationship with the patients and surgeons.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to listen, communicate recommended treatment options
Demonstrate reliability, a pleasant attitude, and willingness to perform duties as required.
Able to maintain and comply with patient confidentiality and integrity on all matters.
Ability to work independently and without direct supervision
Education and Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent
Ophthalmology experience preferred
Physical Requirements
Work load may be stressful, at times
Contact involves assisting patients, which may require the ability to exude a calming attitude. You will also work closely with staff, physicians and surgery center in assisting and maintaining the standard of care and customer service set by FES.
Must have physical and mental stamina to work quickly and with accuracy.
Travel between offices as needed - St Augustine, FL and Palm Coast. FL
