Position Overview
Price Benowitz LLP is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Settlement Coordinator to join our Personal Injury Practice Group in our Washington, D.C. office.
This is a fully in-office role, Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM, supporting the financial and operational aspects of case settlements. The ideal candidate will have strong accounting knowledge, experience with trust accounting, and the ability to manage sensitive financial data with precision and discretion.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain organized and complete settlement files within case management systems
Review and approve client escrow (IOLTA/trust) account deposits and disbursements
Identify, analyze, and escalate complex settlement or disbursement issues as needed
Coordinate with the accounting department to prepare and issue checks to clients and vendors
Prepare and distribute checks via priority, certified, and standard mail
Monitor, sort, and track incoming, outstanding, and returned checks
Run bi-weekly financial reports on settled cases, disbursed funds, and outstanding balances
Ensure compliance with firm policies and applicable trust accounting requirements
Qualifications
2+ years of experience in an accounting or financial operations role (accounts payable/receivable preferred)
Strong understanding of personal injury settlement processes, including lien resolution and settlement statements
Hands-on experience managing IOLTA/trust accounts
Exceptional attention to detail with strong organizational and problem-solving skills
Ability to handle confidential financial information with discretion and integrity
Proficiency with accounting software; QuickBooks Online and Ramp preferred
Experience with case management systems; SmartAdvocate preferred
Familiarity with AI tools and an understanding of confidentiality and data security considerations in a legal environment

Compensation:
The hourly rate for this position ranges from $29 to $33/hr., with the final rate to be determined by the Hiring Manager, based on the candidate’s credentials, experience level, and overall skill set.
