The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC)
is seeking a board-certified or board-eligible Infectious Disease physician to join its expanding Division of Infectious Diseases within the Department of Medicine in Charleston, South Carolina. This position will support efforts to broaden access to care and serve a diverse patient population across the Charleston area. The role offers participation in either a clinical educator or modified clinical track, with primary responsibilities based at MUSC's Main Hospital in downtown Charleston, along with opportunities to provide outreach care in surrounding communities.
About The Division of Infectious Diseases:
The division includes 21 physicians and 3 advanced practice providers, dedicated to excellence in patient-centered care, research, and education. Faculty lead key institutional programs such as infection control, antimicrobial stewardship, and transplant infectious diseases. The division has provided comprehensive HIV care for over 30 years, supported by the HRSA Ryan White Program and SC DHEC. Active research areas include HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, antimicrobial resistance, and related fields. Educational programs include a two-year Infectious Diseases Fellowship and a one-year Transplant Infectious Diseases Fellowship, offering robust clinical and research training.
Required Qualifications:
MD or MD/PhD
Must be Board Certified/Board Eligible in Infectious Diseases

Position Highlights:
Provide inpatient and consultative Infectious Diseases care across MUSC Health facilities, including a diverse and complex patient population
Become part of a well-established, collaborative team of 21 physicians and 3 advanced practice providers.
Participate in inpatient teaching services, including attending on resident and fellow led teams
Provide inpatient and consultative Infectious Diseases care via telehealth prn
Engage in multidisciplinary collaboration with transplant teams, hospital medicine, critical care, and surgical services
Contribute to established programs such as antimicrobial stewardship, infection prevention, and transplant infectious diseases
Attend and participate in division conferences, case discussions and grand rounds
Opportunity to develop or expand subspecialty interests within infectious diseases (e.g., HIV care, transplant ID, antimicrobial resistance, global health)
Flexible modified clinical track with protected time for academic, research, or educational pursuits
Opportunities to participate in clinical trials, outcomes research, and quality improvement initiatives
Shared call responsibilities with a collegial division faculty
