Supply & Production Manager
Hippo Harvest, Pescadero, CA, United States
Overview
In a world increasingly impacted by climate change, pollution, and population growth, conventional vegetable production is unsustainable. Greenhouse hydroponics uses up to 90% less water, increases yields, reduces food waste, uses fewer pesticides, eliminates fertilizer runoff, and enables local production. Still, greenhouse producers remain a niche due to high capital and labor costs and operational complexity.

Hippo Harvest has broken through this barrier by developing the first vertically integrated physical AI platform for growing leafy greens that are cost-competitive with conventional field production. Hippo's products deliver longer shelf life, better flavor, and more reliable supply.
We're looking for a Supply & Production Planner to be the connective tissue between our demand signals and our growing operations — someone who translates forecasts into executable plans and keeps week-to-week production running smoothly as we grow.
You Will
Drive long-term supply planning — build 6-month to 1-year supply plans, manage supply transition planning, and coordinate with third-party field growers and our own greenhouse operations to ensure reliable, cost-effective supply.
Own week-to-week and day-to-day production planning — translate demand forecasts and growth projections into grounded, realistic seeding, harvest, and packing schedules, while flagging supply risks before they arrive.
Coordinate logistics — manage outbound logistics either directly or by hiring a logistics admin.
Inform the development of automation tools to reduce overhead, and own the exceptions and edge cases when those tools fall short.
Build and maintain a base of easily queryable, objective data to track supply and production performance — and use it to surface gaps and drive improvement proactively.
Serve as a reliable cross-functional partner to growing, packing, sales, and operations — someone who makes it easier for others to do their jobs well.
You Have
Hands-on experience building and maintaining supply plans — you're comfortable with S&OP processes, rolling forecasts, and translating demand signals into executable production schedules across a horizon of weeks to months.
Experience managing grower or supplier relationships in a contract or program context — you know how to set expectations, track performance against commitments, and have the difficult conversations when supply doesn't materialize.
Fluency with ERP or production planning software (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Cin7, or similar) — you understand how master production schedules, work orders, and inventory positions interact, and can help define and configure how our systems should work front he ground up.
Comfort working with perishable or time-sensitive supply — you understand how shelf life, yield variability, and tight harvest-to-ship windows constrain planning decisions in ways that don't apply in a typical manufacturing context.
Experience coordinating outbound logistics, either directly or through a 3PL.
A track record of operating with minimal direction — you identify what needs doing, figure out how to do it, and follow through.
Genuine comfort with data. You're at home in spreadsheets and know how to build and use metrics that actually tell you something. You use data to inform your judgment.
Strong risk awareness without being risk-averse. You anticipate where supply can fail and take practical steps to build resilience — without over-building costly buffers.
Experience in supply chain planning or production operations — ideally in fresh food, agriculture, or a similarly fast-moving, time-sensitive environment.
Clear, direct communication skills.
APICS CPIM or CSCP certification is a plus.
Spanish language skills are a plus.
