Position Summary
This position is in the Agency’s Global Business Development division and supports statewide economic development by maintaining accurate property data, responding to inquiries, and promoting the LocateSC platform. This position also serves as a resource ensuring communities are prepared to attract and support new business opportunities.
Job Responsibilities
Ensure that South Carolina’s statewide buildings and sites databases remain the most accurate, comprehensive, and up-to-date resource for available industrial and commercial properties. Build and maintain strong relationships with local economic development professionals and real estate contacts to ensure timely, verified information and support the Agency’s ability to respond effectively to project inquiries.
Support the Agency’s business recruitment and project management efforts by identifying and recommending suitable building and site options that meet prospective criteria. Develop and implement strategies that strengthen the Agency’s access to timely, accurate, and comprehensive real estate intelligence to inform decision-making and enhance project outcomes.
Serve as a primary point of contact for the Palmetto Sites Program, facilitating coordination between applicants, consultants and Agency staff to ensure properties move efficiently through each phase of the program. Support applicants in completing required deliverables and maintain accurate, comprehensive records of all participating properties.
Support the team in ensuring that program resources, tools, reporting functions and grant administration processes operate efficiently and effectively. Coordinate with internal and external partners to maintain accurate data systems, evaluate and support LocateSC Fund grant activities, identify potential new resources and develop reports that inform program decisions and statewide economic development strategy.
Provide high-level support to the Program Director and project team during the statewide rollout of the VisionSC platform, assisting with coordination, communication, and information management to ensure successful onboarding of communities and partners.
Assist as an additional member of the S.C. Department of Commerce’s ESF-24 SEOC Activation Team during declared state emergencies, supporting the State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC) in coordinating business, industry, and economic recovery efforts. Assist in ensuring all responsibilities are carried out in accordance with state emergency procedures and the Agency’s continuity and response plans.
Minimum And Additional Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in a related area and experience in marketing, economic development, sales, or customer service.
Knowledge of the property components a potential company would need in order to make a location decision. Knowledge of the resources available throughout the state to identify and track available industrial and office real estate. Ability to analyze and consolidate information and prepare reports. Ability to organize and prioritize time-sensitive assignments. Ability to find solutions to complex issues. Ability to maintain effective business relationships. Ability to communicate effectively.
Must possess a valid driver’s license. Position requires occasional in-state travel.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in economic development, real estate, or marketing preferred.
