Industrial‑Manufacturing Electrician Level 1
McDavid, Florida (32 miles north of Pensacola)

The position is located at the McDavid, FL sawmill operation and reports directly to the Electrical Supervisor.

Responsibilities

Test electrical systems or verify continuity of circuits in wiring, equipment, or fixtures using devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, or oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety.

Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, or the need for adjustment or repair, and ensure compliance with codes.

Diagnose, program, and upgrade Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC).

Read, understand, and update instrumentation loop diagrams, E & I drawings, blueprints, and schematics.

Diagnose, program, and maintain AC variable‑speed drives.

Diagnose, maintain, and upgrade power distribution systems, MCCs, and switchgear.

Use sketches, manuals, verbal instructions, and drawings to design, assemble, or install electrical equipment.

Work with vendors to identify needed parts and make recommendations to the supervisor.

Operate power lift equipment when necessary.

Work outside scheduled hours as needed to keep mill production running.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED.

3–5 years of verifiable work experience as an electrician in an industrial or manufacturing environment, preferably in industrial maintenance.

Valid driver’s license.

Willingness to work rotating shifts and weekends.

Employer will conduct background check, reference check, physical exam, and drug screening.

Preferred Experience

Experience with Allen‑Bradley PLC5, Studio 5000, Panelview/Panelview Plus, and RS232 & Ethernet communications.

Experience with scanning and optimization systems within the lumber manufacturing business (e.g., Porter, USNR).

Experience with process network communication systems and components – Ethernet & fiber optic.

Physical Demands

Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs individually and up to 75 lbs with assistance.

Requires frequent walking, stretching, bending, climbing, and stooping movements.

Must work in non‑air‑conditioned environments and around heated equipment.

Must be available for overtime and on‑call support for 24/7 operations.
