Safety & Driver – HNL Drivers
Location: Pine Street, Hawaii. Pay Range: $25.00–$33.00 per hour.
Primary Responsibilities
Drive commercial vehicles per Federal Department of Transportation regulations, transporting JTB Hawaii guests and customers on routes throughout Oahu.
Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections in accordance with Federal DOT and Travel Plaza Transportation regulations and policies.
Provide safe transportation for airport transfers, charter excursions, and tours; assist customers with loading/unloading passengers and baggage.
Operate vehicle in compliance with state, federal, and traffic regulations; observe all traffic signals, signs, and pedestrians; avoid accidents.
Record required information, complete accident reports, and check in/out with dispatch.
Secondary Duties
Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
High school graduate; at least 21 years of age.
Valid Hawaii driver’s license with a clean driver abstract.
Commercial driver's license (CDL) – Class B or C with air brake and passenger endorsements.
At least one year of customer service or hospitality experience preferred.
Strong communication skills in English and/or Japanese via radio, cell phone, PA system, and microphone.
Ability to work independently and cooperatively with employees, partners, and customers.
Capability to multi‑task while driving and communicating with dispatch.
Working Conditions
Shift work variable between 5:00 a.m. and 12:00 a.m., 7 days per week. Overtime, weekend and holiday work required.
Environmental Conditions
Atmospheric conditions include air conditioning, noise, exhaust fumes, dust, and adverse weather.
Physical and Mental Demands
Vision: constant peripheral awareness, eye coordination, depth perception, focusing ability, color vision.
Self‑control: handle stressful situations; deal with angry customers.
Attention: work with concentration, accuracy, and detail orientation.
Manual tasks: grasping, handling, pushing, pulling, lifting/carrying 25–50 pounds; stair climbing, bending.
Posture: standing, walking, crawling, squatting, twisting, side bending, overhead reach; occasional kneeling, stooping, crouching, climbing.
Communication Demands
Constant: talking to co‑workers and customers; written communication to co‑workers.
Frequent: responding to verbal or written requests of co‑workers; writing/composing written language; visiting work sites.
Occasional: talking to outside vendors; telephone conversations.
Seldom: written communication to customers; training/giving verbal instructions.
Not applicable: supervising others; written or verbal requests of vendors.
