Overview
The Panhandle Area Council, Inc. (PAC) is a nonprofit economic development organization based in Hayden, Idaho, serving the five northern counties of Idaho. Established in 1972, PAC supports small business growth and regional development through SBA 504 lending, Revolving Loan Fund programs, grant administration, business counseling, and community development initiatives. We also operate an Innovation Space that supports startups and growing businesses with office and industrial leasing.
Position Overview
PAC is seeking a detail-oriented
Loan Services & Fiscal Assistant
to support both our lending operations and core fiscal functions. This role is primarily focused on
loan file management, servicing, and compliance tracking , with secondary support responsibilities in payroll and accounts payable. This is a great opportunity for someone with a strong
bookkeeping or accounting background
who enjoys structured, detail-heavy work and wants to expand into lending operations. We are a small, mission-driven office where reliability, accuracy, and teamwork matter.
This is a fully on-site position in Hayden, Idaho (no remote or hybrid option).
Responsibilities
Loan Services Support (Primary ~80%)
Maintain and update loan records in an SBA loan management system (Ventures – training provided)
Track borrower accounts, payments, and loan status updates
Manage collateral documentation (insurance, UCC filings, compliance tracking)
Assist with loan closings and document preparation
Support federal and regulatory reporting (SBA, EDA, and related programs)
Maintain organized digital and physical loan files
Assist with audits, reporting, and special loan projects
Fiscal Support (Secondary ~20%)
Assist with payroll processing (backup support, confidentiality required)
Assist with accounts payable processing (coding, entry, approvals, payments)
Support bank reconciliations and month-end processes
Provide general accounting and administrative support as needed

Has a
strong bookkeeping or accounting foundation
Is highly
detail-oriented and accurate
Learns systems quickly and asks questions when needed
Can manage tasks independently without constant direction
Is comfortable handling
confidential financial information
Is flexible and willing to support multiple functions in a small office
Shows up consistently and is dependable
Loan or banking experience is helpful but
not required .
Minimum Qualifications
Associate’s degree or equivalent experience in accounting, business, or related field
3–5+ years of bookkeeping, accounting clerk, or financial admin experience
Experience with accounts payable, payroll, and reconciliations
Strong Microsoft Excel and Outlook skills
High attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to manage multiple recurring tasks and deadlines
Must be able to work on-site in Hayden, ID
Please note all applicants will be required to complete the U.S. Small Business Administration Form 1081 (background check) for eligibility to participate in the SBA Loan Program.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with
QuickBooks (Desktop or Online)
or similar accounting software
Prior work in a
nonprofit, government, or economic development organization
Familiarity with
loan documentation, file management, or lending operations
Exposure to
SBA programs, USDA Rural Development, CDFI reporting, or revolving loan funds
Experience working in a
small office environment
where roles are flexible and cross-functional
Schedule & Compensation
Part-time: up to 32 hours per week
On-site only (Hayden, Idaho)
Pay range:
$22–$28/hour DOE

Consistent, agreed-upon schedule with some flexibility by mutual arrangement
