Overview
Under the direction of the Utility Supervisor, the Utility Worker performs a variety of duties related to the cleaning and servicing of Long Beach Transit (LBT) buses and other vehicles and equipment, facility grounds, and work areas.

Responsibilities

Fuels, checks water and oil levels of LBT vehicles

Operates buses for servicing and maintenance purposes

Sweeps, mops, and prepares bus interior and exterior for bus washing

Makes bus changes on vehicle routes

Drives buses between LBT facilities

Sweeps, mops, and cleans work areas and grounds

Assists with moving furniture and equipment

Removes fare revenue and records information

Operates a variety of equipment including forklift and ground scrubber/sweeper

Places and replaces fliers and advertisements in buses

Observes safety rules and contributes to a safe working environment for self and others

Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
Candidates must be 21 years or older with a valid California Class C driver's license, an excellent safe driving record, and the ability to upgrade to a Class B license. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Starting Hourly Rate: $27.51

Education and/or Experience
The equivalent of a high school diploma or GED. Six months of full-time related work experience in a position successfully performing janitorial and/or industrial cleaning duties or a position responsible for the cleaning, maintenance and/or servicing of a variety of vehicles.

Other Requirements
The essential functions of the job are performed in a shop environment and outside in various weather conditions. This job requires stooping, kneeling, bending, crouching, standing, walking, carrying, and heavy lifting.
