Job Description
We are currently seeking a motivated, career and customer-oriented Application Tester to join our team in Washington DC.

Responsibilities

Support and develop JAVA‑based applications along with .NET and MQ messaging.

Plan, develop, and execute functional test plans for all phases of testing.

Design, run, and maintain automated and manual test scripts.

Generate test data and perform data validation.

Execute regression, functional, load, and system tests.

Verify results, produce test summaries, and file defect reports.

Identify defects and requirement discrepancies, generate defect change requests and reporting.

Determine test objectives and standards by reviewing customer requirements.

Conduct application testing of web‑based systems and capture/document defects.

Query databases using MS Access or SQL to validate testing results.

Report test outcomes by collecting, analyzing, interpreting, summarizing, and displaying data.

Resolve testing problems by modifying testing methods during tests and working with management to revise objectives and plans.

Gain an understanding of business requirements, current system operations/functionality and proposed new requirements.

Participate in design reviews, analysis walkthroughs, and peer reviews.

Maintain knowledge of Rational ClearQuest and Rational ClearCase.

Position Requirements

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to collaborate, communicate, and triage technical issues across teams.

Experience in software testing, creation, and implementation.

Evidence of using test strategies, test plans, manual test cases, and automated test scripts.

Experience performing both manual and automated software testing.

Ability to conduct risk/system impact analysis.

Detail oriented with strong problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.

Ability to thoroughly identify, document, and track defects.

Ability to prioritize, multitask, and excel in a fast‑paced, on‑time deliverable environment.

Flexibility to work weekends and off‑hours as required.

Must pass a DOJ Minimal Background Investigation, Level 5.

Valid EQIP JPAS transfers acceptable.

Bachelor’s Degree required. Minimum 5 years of experience.

Technical Proficiencies

Automated script development using advanced techniques and Rational automated test tools, Rational Test Manager, Rational Functional Tester.

Capability to develop SQL for testing analysis activities, including backend database testing.

Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.).

Hands‑on experience with Test Complete, Insomnia, Soap UI, Ready API, TOAD, and Data Studio preferred.
