
Warehouse and Materials Supervisor

Position Overview
This position is responsible for managing shipping, receiving, and storage of both raw materials and finished goods. It must optimize space, people, equipment, and time to accomplish the warehouse functions efficiently.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties
Supervises, trains, and evaluates all hourly warehouse employees, administering plant rules and procedures.
Maintains quality standards to meet customer and internal specifications; drives continuous improvement through training and effective leadership.
Ensures safe working conditions, corrects unsafe actions, serves on the Plant Safety Committee, implements approved safety recommendations and ensures compliance with safety standards.
Conducts monthly safety meetings with shift.
Handles employee complaints, suggestions, and conflicts per Employee Handbook guidelines; maintains morale through fairness.
Assists in reviewing labor and materials costs, recommending cost‑reducing methods.
Co‑ordinates approved material or method changes; communicates to personnel and follows up for proper implementation.
Keeps current on technical developments to recommend improvements and train staff.
Schedules delivery of supplies for production (preforms, tier sheets, top frames, pallets, boxes, labels) via forklift drivers and maintains inventory.
Maintains accurate shipping reports and freight bills of lading.
Manages operational equipment (forklifts, trailers, dock doors), negotiates maintenance costs, and ensures equipment is safe and cost‑effective.
Supervises unloading and organized storage of raw materials.
Performs daily production planning and monthly scheduling to maximize equipment efficiency.
Communicates with customers to satisfy product and delivery needs, information planning, and material specifications.
Monitors and reports material consumption, using consumption factors to develop supply plans.
Provides traffic services for inbound and outbound rail, truck, air, postal, UPS, and courier services.
Coordinates all motor freight carriers for special commodity rates, contract carrier and freight rate information.
Assists in periodic physical inventory and reconciliation of raw materials, in‑process, and finished goods stock.
Responsible for SAP functions: ticketing of finished goods and raw materials, cycle counting, inventory control, reconciliation, HFI coordination, and tracking.
Education, Skills & Experience
Minimum of an Associate’s Degree; Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management or related discipline preferred.
Minimum of three years in a supervisory position, preferably in plastics manufacturing; knowledge of raw materials and inventory in a plastics environment.
Experience with allocation, leadership technique, production methods, forecasting, scheduling, and real‑time operations management.
Strong written and analytical reporting skills and business correspondence.
Ability to present information and respond in group settings.
