RN, Assessment Specialist/Intake Specialist
Schedule: Weekend Days (Saturday, Sunday, Monday) 7am – 7pm
Responsibilities:
Receives inquiry calls and assists callers with scheduling face‑to‑face, phone, or tele‑assessment triages based on safety risk.
Assesses or ensures assessment by a qualified mental health professional of patients who present for assessment.
Screens for medical and behavioral emergency conditions.
Performs a comprehensive assessment and provides quality therapeutic care to patients seeking treatment for substance abuse, dual diagnosis, or psychiatric or emotional disorders; coordinates with the clinical team/on‑call physician to ensure appropriate care at the facility or community providers.
Interprets treatment to patient and family to help reduce fear and other attitudes obstructing acceptance of care and continuation of treatment.
Completes the administrative processes of admission and precertification of care with external payers, as necessary.
Administers nursing care to ill or injured persons by giving direct care.
Coordinates and delivers quality general and psychiatric nursing care to patients hospitalized for treatment of substance abuse, dual diagnosis, or psychiatric or emotional disorders.
Ensures the safety and well‑being of each patient.
Ensures all medical orders are followed, initiates and follows treatment planning, and acts as a patient advocate at all times.
Qualifications & Requirements
Graduate from an accredited program of professional nursing or possess a relevant state licensure.
Current unencumbered license to practice by the State Board of Nursing.
Previous experience in a psychiatric health care facility, including direct work with chemical dependency, dual diagnosis, psychiatric, and geriatric patients.
Experience in patient assessments, family motivations, treatment planning, and communication with external review organizations or comparable entities.
Reports to: Assessment Director/Supervisor.
