Job Description

The purpose and scope: It is the responsibility of the teaching faculty to provide learning activities and support that lead to the achievement of course objectives and contribute to the educational environment of the college and the community. Primary responsibilities include planning, developing, and teaching courses within the curriculum to facilitate student learning.
Adjunct faculty are hired in a part-time capacity on a semester-by-semester basis, contingent upon system needs. Applications are accepted year-round from qualified applicants willing to teach on a part-time basis. Hiring is based on student demand. We offer day, evening, and weekend classes at various times and locations. Adjunct faculty may teach a maximum of five classes per academic year.
Essential Job Functions

Teaches Engineering Technology (CNBT 1342) courses at various times and locations
Creates engaging lessons that promote student involvement and application of the material
Submits required college reports and forms in a timely manner
Utilizes a course syllabus for each course, following established institutional guidelines
Meets with and advises students before or after class or by appointment and via electronic communication or other appropriate methods
Evaluates students to measure progress and informs students of their progress in a timely manner
Maintains professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community
Attends meetings, trainings, and orientations as required
Other reasonable related duties as assigned

Mastery of course content
Demonstrated leadership skills with a collaborative, teamwork-oriented style
Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work with a wide variety of people and appreciate alternative viewpoints
Interest in interdisciplinary teaching, service learning, learning technologies, course development, and adult learning methodologies including collaborative learning and distance learning
Commitment to academic excellence and providing a dynamic climate for lifelong learning
Ability to develop and implement instructional approaches such as service learning, learning communities, and effective use of technology
Ability to engage students with effective instructional strategies
Physical Abilities

Ability to perform typical classroom and laboratory activities, including standing for extended periods and light lifting of classroom materials
Work Schedule and Conditions

Equipment includes a PC workstation, calculator, phone, and other standard office equipment
Work is performed in a climate-controlled classroom or lab environment with safety considerations
Hours vary based on class times; instructors must meet scheduled classes and be available to students outside instruction time
Required Qualifications

Associate's degree in engineering graphics, drafting technology, or CAD in structural, civil, or architectural fields with a minimum of 3 years of work experience
Or Bachelor's degree in architecture, structural/civil engineering, engineering technology, or construction management with a minimum of 3 years of work experience
Salary

$55.44 per contact hour
