Aviation Airport Operations Intern

The Broward County Board of County Commissioners is seeking a qualified candidate for an Aviation Operations Intern. The position is full‑time and requires the intern to work nights, holidays, and weekends.

Duties and Responsibilities

Able to apply research techniques and analytical methods to study administrative systems, organizational structures, policies, and procedures related to the area of assignment.

Conducts special studies in conjunction with projects, analyzes data, and makes recommendations based on research.

Conducts facility inspections and special projects within the airside, landside/ground transportation, terminal, parking, Airport Operations Control Center (AOCC), construction coordination, and administrative operational areas of the airport.

Interacts with local, state, federal, and various airport stakeholders.

Responsible for project assignments, research, and analysis.

Provides information and assistance to the general public and other governmental agencies.

Prepares project reports and related data.

Provides administrative support to the agency.

Performs related work as assigned.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Currently enrolled in, or graduated from, a degree‑seeking program at an accredited four‑year college or university with major coursework in aviation, aviation management, aeronautical science, or a closely related area of study.

OR an applicant who meets the qualifications of a County Commission and Human Resources approved internship or apprenticeship program (the hiring agency must contact Staffing Services prior to recruitment).

Special Certifications and Licenses

Must possess a valid Florida driver’s license during employment and maintain the authority to drive on county business.

Ability to obtain and maintain a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Badge with a Customs Seal.

Physical Demands
Performs light work that involves walking or standing most of the time and requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force on a regular basis, or skillful and rapid use of fingers, hands, or limbs on repetitive operation of electronic office equipment.

Unavoidable hazards: None.

Emergency Responsibilities
During emergency conditions, all county employees are automatically considered emergency service workers and may be called to work in the event of a disaster or other emergency situation.
