Behavioral Health Clinical Therapist
$5,000 Sign-on-Bonus for external candidates
Optum is seeking a Behavioral Health Clinical Therapist to provide direct clinical services to adults and pediatric patients in the Collaborative Care Model (CoCM) at a primary care clinic in Monroe, NY. The therapist will integrate with Optum Behavioral Care (OBC) teams and act as a hybrid in‑person/virtual provider for OBC clients.
Primary Responsibilities
Use virtual and in‑person modalities to coordinate care with patients, primary care physicians, and psychiatrists.
Screen and assess patients for common mental health and substance abuse disorders.
Track treatment response, monitor changes in clinical symptoms and side effects or complications.
Support psychotropic medication management as prescribed by medical providers, focusing on adherence, side effects and effectiveness.
Provide brief behavioral interventions using evidence‑based techniques such as behavioral activation, problem‑solving treatment, motivational interviewing, or other appropriate methods.
Participate in scheduled caseload consultations with the psychiatric consultant and communicate treatment recommendations to the primary care provider.
Develop relapse prevention self‑management plans with patients who have achieved their treatment goals and will soon be discharged.

Required Qualifications
Meet one of the following license requirements for the state of New York:
Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC)
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)
3+ years of experience treating patients with behavioral health conditions.
1+ year of experience working in a primary care or integrated behavioral health setting.
Experience with assessment and evidence‑based psychosocial treatments for common mental health disorders (e.g., cognitive behavioural therapy, motivational interviewing, problem‑solving treatment, or behavioral activation).
Experience providing behavioral health services to adults and pediatric patients, including children and adolescents.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in the Collaborative Care Model (CoCM).
Organized, detail‑oriented, with strong follow‑up capabilities.
Ability to maintain effective professional relationships with patients and care team members.
Proficiency in working with patients in person, telephone, and video.
Technical competency and adaptability with technology solutions and tools.
Compensation and Work Arrangements
Salary range: $60,200 to $107,400 annually based on full‑time employment, local labor market, education, experience, and certifications.
Hybrid work model: one day per week remote, four days onsite at the medical clinic, Monday–Friday schedule.
