
PHP THERAPIST (MA/MSW) - Full time

Job Summary
The PHP Therapist provides direct patient care under the supervision of the Clinical Program Manager. The role includes the provision of a safe and therapeutic milieu, crisis intervention, activities of daily living, daily contraband searches, social history assessment interviews, psychosocial histories, discharge planning, patient contacts, treatment updates, and creation of individual and master treatment plans. The therapist implements programs, conducts individual and family counseling sessions, runs group sessions and creates group topics and materials. Documentation includes tracking sheets, progress notes, group session notes, and filing. The therapist initiates and follows through on discharge/after‑care planning, provides support networks, and identifies appropriate referrals. The employee follows policies related to release of information and confidentiality and attends multi‑disciplinary treatment staffing as assigned.
Responsibilities
Provide direct patient care within a PHP setting.
Maintain a safe and therapeutic milieu.
Conduct and respond to crisis interventions.
Perform daily contraband searches.
Conduct social history assessment interviews and produce assessment updates.
Document psychosocial histories, discharge planning, patient contacts, and treatment updates in the medical record.
Create and revise individual and master treatment plans.
Implement programs and conduct individual and family counseling.
Run group counseling sessions and create group topics and materials.
Document group session notes and maintain tracking sheets.
Initiate and follow through on discharge and after‑care planning.
Provide support to external agencies (DCFS, SASS, school social workers, teachers) with patient progress updates.
Identify appropriate referrals for post‑discharge services and establish rapport.
Follow policies related to release of information, confidentiality, and multi‑disciplinary staffing.
Qualifications
Master's degree in psychology or related field.
One to three years of experience working with a psychiatric patient population (preferred).
Licensure preferred: LSW or LPC.
BLS Provider certification through the American Heart Association and CPI certification required upon completion of orientation; certifications must remain active.
Knowledge of psychiatric group processes, therapeutic relationships, age‑specific development, limit setting, behavior management, CPI leadership skills, diagnostic understanding of behaviors in a milieu, and CPR training.
Ability to work flexibly across units serving children, pre‑adolescents, adolescents, and adults.
