Job Description
Support client research objectives in the area of microbiology.
Carry out routine tasks in support of laboratory operations, including, but not limited to: microbiology media preparation; plating; inoculation; incubation; colony identification; counting; and data reporting.
Ensure efficient operations of the laboratory by ensuring that supplies and consumables are ordered, stocked, and lab space maintained in accordance to 5S standards.
Maintain strict record keeping by updating hard copy and electronic records; review data, data notebooks, and logbooks to ensure highest quality and integrity of data generated.
Meet all quality and productivity metrics.
Maintain the highest level of organization, accuracy, and detail in accordance with ISO17025 quality system requirements.
Support other scientific teams as assigned (molecular biology, analytical chemistry, QA lab support, etc.)
Learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, follow WIs and SOPs as written, and perform other duties as assigned
Demonstrate strong client service skills
Proactively plan and maximize productivity
Demonstrate strong teamwork and collaboration
Implement operational improvements
Support and promote company policies and procedures
Qualifications
Relevant microbiology laboratory experience preferred, strong understanding and educational foundation in the biological sciences
Degree in microbiology, cell biology, molecular biology, or related scientific discipline preferred
2+ years of industry experience preferred in lieu of college degree
Strong familiarity with microbiological practices, methods, techniques, and procedures
Experience working within an established quality system (i.e. ISO 17025) preferred
Ability to stand and work on the feet for extended periods in a laboratory environment
Detailed-oriented with strong analytical and organizational skills.
Strong written, verbal and presentation skills along with demonstrated ability to collaborate with others.
Demonstrate strong client service skills, teamwork, and collaboration
Strong computer, scientific, and organizational skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, self-motivation, adaptability, and a positive attitude
Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship

Position is full-time, Monday to Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm. Candidates currently living within a commutable distance of Richmond, VA are encouraged to apply.
