Sawyer Lead

A Brief Overview
The Sawyer Lead will operate and maintain cutting equipment for the CNC/sawyer department. This person is responsible for cutting materials with precision and ensuring equipment functionality, as well as inspecting the final products for quality assurance. This position is a working role but is also responsible for leading a team who oversees the assembly process in an efficient manner.

Pay Range
$25.00 - $28.00/hour

What You Will Do

Operate, calibrate and maintain cutting machines (saws and CNC) to prepare materials including truss, cabinet, roof, floor, door, or panel systems.

Monitor inventory and flow of materials and supplies relating to assembly process.

Inspect and ensure equipment functionality daily to prevent malfunctions and notify leader of any equipment issues.

Interpret shop drawings and/or computerized production software.

Examine final products to ensure they meet quality standards.

Organize and store materials efficiently.

Collaborate with team members to optimize workflow.

Adhere to all safety guidelines and regulations.

Criteria for Lead: Will work in advanced sawyer process. This is a working role that leads fewer than 10 associates and directs the work of the team by assigning duties and tasks.

Education Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Vocational training in woodworking or machinery preferred.

Experience Qualifications

4-6 years of prior shop experience in component assembly required.

4-6 years of industry / truss sawyer experience required.

Experience in operating cutting machinery.

Hands‑on experience in woodworking or carpentry.

Skills and Abilities

Ability to operate equipment such as automated saws/CNC, staplers, nail guns, routers, various saws, and a crane.

Must be able to read a tape measure and use a hammer.

Should have the desire to produce a quality product with a team effort in the assembly process.

Understand material standards for crown, twist, bow, knots, wane, & splitting.

Understand material substitution rules and makes substitutions under the direction of supervisor.

Excellent teamwork & customer relationships.

Licenses and Certifications

Forklift Certification required.
