About The Unit
The Medical-Oncology Unit at Corewell Health South is a 36-bed unit specializing in the care of adult patients with medical, cardiovascular, surgical, oncological, hospice and palliative needs. It offers comprehensive care throughout patient admission—from initial diagnosis through treatment, recovery, or palliation. The unit delivers high-quality nursing care and essential educational and emotional support to patients and their families during every stage of their journey.

Corewell Health South is a leading healthcare provider in Southwest Michigan, comprising three hospital systems dedicated to delivering comprehensive, patient‑centered care. The network includes an outpatient surgical center, rehabilitation facilities, two long‑term care centers, home care and hospice services, and numerous physician practice locations. In collaboration with the Marie Yeager Cancer Center—our regional hub for oncology services—Oncology Certified RNs provide advanced, compassionate care to those receiving inpatient chemotherapy. Scope of Work
The Registered Nurse (RN) at Corewell Health South practices within the American Nurses Association (ANA) scope of practice, utilizing the nursing process to deliver high‑quality, patient‑and family‑centered care. Through comprehensive assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and discharge coordination, the RN tailors care to meet each patient’s unique needs and goals. The RN partners with patients and families, integrates their input into the plan of care, and develops personalized teaching strategies to support education, empowerment, and optimal health outcomes.
Qualifications
Associates in Nursing
Bachelors in Nursing within 5 years
Graduates from a non‑accredited school of nursing must have at least one year of acute care experience or at least two years of experience in a licensed health care role and must have successfully passed the NCLEX licensure examination.
MI Registered Nurse (RN)
AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) within 90 days
Preferred
Chemotherapy Biotherapy – ONCC Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation Radiation Oncology, Infusion Clinic and Medical Oncology (full‑time employees) within 2 years OR
Chemotherapy Biotherapy – ONS #N/A Radiation Oncology, Infusion Clinic and Medical Oncology (full‑time employees) within 2 years
