Position Summary
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a MRI Technologist - Outpatient NYU Imaging - Garden City.
In this role, the successful candidate under the direction of a Radiologist operates Magnetic Resonance Imaging equipment to produce clinical diagnostic images and performs procedures according to established standards and practices, including patient identification, safety standards and completion of required forms before allowing a patient to leave the zone area.
Job Responsibilities
Operates MRI equipment to take diagnostic images of specific body areas as ordered. Produces diagnostic images for interpretation by the radiologist.
Instructs and supervises radiography students in clinical practicum. Works with the radiography student to perform exams as well as performing individual image evaluation.
Assists in the care and maintenance of facilities, equipment and supplies. Reports any equipment problems or malfunctions to the supervisor in a timely fashion.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Enters proper exam coding in the Radiology Information System and arrives and completes exams in a timely fashion.
Accurately utilizes the PACS (Picture Archival System) to make images available to the radiologist for interpretation with minimum number of exceptions.
Practices safety protocols with regard to patient and employee safety when in range of magnetic field. Ensures MRI safety protocols are practiced.
Prepares and positions or immobilizes patients properly and provides clear and concise instructions regarding the procedure before beginning an exam. Ensures quality review of the images fall within the guidelines of departmental SOP (Standard operating protocol).
Minimum Qualifications
Technical Diploma Graduate of approved Radiologic Technology program.
Valid and current NYS Radiologic Technologist License.
Professional Registrations/Certifications: American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) certification and registration for employees hired prior to 1986 not required; all other requirements applicable. Advanced ARRT MRI certification preferred but required within 12 months of employment. New York State Department of Health IV Contrast Injection Certification (Part 89-Section 89.40), preferred but required within 12 months of employment.
1-2 years experience working in a Hospital setting as a Radiologic Technologist.
Strong communication, problem solving, and customer service skills.
Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office.
Working knowledge of radiology equipment including MRI safety.
Knowledge of 3D anatomy or MRI courses with 3D anatomy.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Radiology Program or related health field. 1-2 years MRI technologist or training experience.
Salary Range
NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $90,376.10 - $100,376.10 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
