
Manager of Academic Searches and Recruitment

Overview
The Manager of Academic Searches and Recruitment oversees the search and recruitment process for all ladder and non-ladder academic positions at the School of Law. Under the general guidance of the Assistant Dean for Administrative Services & Special Projects, the role serves in an advisory capacity to the Chair and members of the Law School's Appointments Committee and all Ad Hoc search committees to mitigate potential labor and employee relations issues in compliance with applicable collective bargaining agreements and APM. The incumbent manages all aspects of the academic recruitment program at the School of Law, including tracking recruitment and selection of candidates in accordance with university requirements and requirements set by external accrediting bodies. The incumbent will evaluate and make recommendations on faculty search initiations and subsequent search reports, secure waivers of search as needed, and produce academic hire offer letters. The incumbent will evaluate the effectiveness of current recruitment strategies, propose and implement process improvements for the next recruitment cycle, and ensure training of Law School administrators on the academic applicant tracking system. The Manager of Academic Searches and Recruiting serves as a key member of the Dean's Office team.

Responsibilities
Oversee the search and recruitment process for ladder and non-ladder academic positions at the School of Law.
Advise the Chair and Appointments Committee and Ad Hoc search committees on labor and employee relations issues in compliance with agreements and policies.
Manage all aspects of the academic recruitment program, including tracking recruitment and candidate selection per university and accrediting body requirements.
Evaluate and make recommendations on faculty search initiations and search reports; secure waivers of search as needed; and produce academic hire offer letters.
Evaluate the effectiveness of recruitment strategies and implement process improvements for the next cycle; ensure training of Law School administrators on the academic applicant tracking system.
Serve as a key member of the Dean's Office team.
Qualifications
5-7 years of professional experience in a position of increasing responsibility at an institution of higher education. (Required)
Demonstrated experience coordinating the activities of a busy and productive executive or office. (Required)
Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with faculty, staff, students and the public; ability to build rapport across diverse backgrounds. (Required)
Experience working independently with minimal supervision, using initiative and resourcefulness.
Experience working as part of a team to collaborate and achieve goals. (Required)
Advanced writing and editing skills for memos, correspondence, and job postings. (Required)
Ability to interpret university, law school, and ABA policies and procedures and provide viable solutions within guidelines. (Required)
Ability to analyze situations, define objectives, identify factors, and formulate logical conclusions with discretion and confidentiality. (Required)
Ability to handle sensitive materials with confidentiality and loyalty. (Required)
Strong written and oral communication skills. (Required)
Ability to manage multiple tasks with interruptions and deadlines. (Required)
Strong organizational skills to optimize efficiency and minimize duplication of effort. (Required)
Ability to work as part of an executive team in a collaborative environment. (Required)
Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations
Bachelor's Degree in related area and/or equivalent combination of education and experience/training (Required)

Ability to work on site at UCLA's Campus 4 to 5 times per week. (Required)
