About Evansville State Hospital
Evansville State Hospital is one of the Indiana State Psychiatric Hospitals who are committed to the mission of Hope and Recovery. Residing on 88 acres on the east side of Evansville, Ind., our facility provides medical treatment for chronic mental illness and substance abuse disorders from our dedicated team of psychiatrists and advanced practice professionals. Active Treatment helps our patients achieve their goals directed towards living in the most non-restrictive environment possible.

Our team of professionals assist our patients in the treatment process involving medical staff, nursing, psychology, social work, rehabilitation therapy and our community integration program. Evansville State Hospital continues to maintain accreditation through The Joint Commission as an Inpatient Psychiatric Hospital as well as Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services certification as a Psychiatric Medicare/Medicaid Hospital.

Salary Statement
The salary for this position traditionally starts at $26,312.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.

A Day In The Life

Operate flatwork iron, steam tunnel, shirt presses, pants presser, dry press, steam press, towel and sheet folder and marking machine.

Sort and shake out laundry according to further processing needs.

Fold and load all clothing and linens for distribution.

Perform general clean up and simple maintenance of equipment.

Stamp new clothing and linens with facility identification

Mend clothing and linens.

Workday attendance at assigned worksite(s) is an essential function of this position.

What You'll Need For Success

Knowledge of, and the ability to operate a variety of laundry equipment.

Ability to perform simple maintenance on all equipment located in laundry area.

Ability to shake out, rack, press and fold clothing and linens.

Ability to sew and operate sewing machine.

A degree is not required. However, at least 2 years of experience in laundry services or related area and experience applying the outlined knowledge, skills, and abilities in a similar role may be considered.

Individuals should have the ability to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports
This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.
