
Material Expeditor (Medical Devices)

Job Description

Location: Bridgeport, CT
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Job type: 6-month contract
Pay Rate: $24–$28/hour
Responsibilities
Manage and prioritize late purchase orders by identifying root causes and driving recovery actions (e.g., expediting shipments, split deliveries, premium freight when approved).
Ensure coverage for materials below safety stock levels; coordinate with Buyers to create or adjust POs as needed.
Expedite deliveries and secure updated commit dates from suppliers.
Confirm inbound shipments, including order acknowledgments, shipment notifications, and tracking details.
Maintain accurate delivery dates in ERP systems and update based on supplier confirmations.
Escalate delivery risks or delays within 24 hours.
Re‑engage dormant or inactive suppliers and validate their readiness to fulfill orders.
Conduct regular supplier calls to review past‑due and at‑risk orders.
Track and document supplier commitments and follow up to ensure accountability.
Escalate missed supplier commitments as needed.
Collaborate with Procurement, Planning, and Operations teams to align on priorities.
Requirements
HS Diploma or
3+ years of experience in Supply Chain, Procurement, Materials, or Production Planning.
Experience expediting orders with suppliers and coordinating deliveries.
Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, Infor).
Strong Excel or Google Sheets skills (e.g., lookups, pivot tables, filtering).
Strong communication skills and ability to manage supplier relationships.
High attention to detail with strong follow-through.
Preferred
Experience managing or reactivating suppliers.
Knowledge of safety stock, lead times, and inventory planning concepts.
Familiarity with reporting tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Looker.
Understanding of logistics, shipping methods, and Incoterms.
